AI-powered clinical protocol assistant
MediAssist is a conversational platform designed to help healthcare professionals access and understand institutional clinical protocols through natural language queries, with every answer grounded in source documents.
What is MediAssist?
MediAssist addresses a core challenge in clinical practice: institutional knowledge is scattered across hundreds of protocol documents, making it difficult to find relevant information quickly during patient care.
Rather than manually searching through PDFs or browsing multiple websites, clinicians can ask questions in plain language and receive answers that point directly to the source material in institutional protocols.
The platform uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to ensure answers are grounded in actual protocol content, not generated from general knowledge. Every response includes citations showing exactly which protocol and section the information came from.
Core Capabilities
Protocol Ingestion
Upload and process clinical protocols in multiple formats (PDF, HTML, scanned documents) into a searchable knowledge base.
AvailableConversational Queries
Ask questions in natural language without needing to know specific protocol names or sections.
AvailableSemantic Retrieval
Hybrid search combines vector similarity and keyword matching to find the most relevant protocol fragments.
AvailableGrounded Responses
AI generates answers strictly based on retrieved protocol content, avoiding hallucination or invention.
AvailableSource Traceability
Every answer includes citations with protocol name, section, and page numbers for verification.
AvailableConversation History
Maintain context across multiple questions in a session for follow-up queries and clarifications.
AvailableRole-Based Access
Authentication and authorization controls to ensure appropriate access to institutional protocols.
In DevelopmentProtocol Administration
Admin interface for managing protocol versions, classifications, and visibility controls.
In DevelopmentHow MediAssist Works
The platform follows a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architecture to ensure clinical accuracy:
Clinical protocols are uploaded and processed into structured chunks for retrieval
Documents are chunked, embedded, and indexed for semantic search
Clinician asks a question in natural language
Hybrid search identifies the most relevant protocol fragments
LLM synthesizes an answer using only the retrieved context
Response delivered with complete source citations
